In the latter part of the 20th century the leadership along with other members of the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association, the oldest district association in the Ohio Baptist General Convention, were convicted of the need to provide biblical instruction for clergy and for laity who were led to devote themselves to the service of God in the local church. Out of this conviction was born the
Eastern Union Bible College, established on November 14, 1980 as an institution of learning for both young and old of the Christian faith as revealed in the Scriptures. Since its inception in 1980, Eastern Union has remained faithful to its original mission and purpose, providing opportunities for members of local area churches to receive education on the message of the Bible and to be better equipped to carry out the various roles of leadership in the local church. Under the visionary leadership of President Noble, the school began a process of re-evaluation from the top down. Placing scrutiny on its policies, procedures and practices, the trustees came to the conclusion that it was necessary to revisit the foundational principles of the institution in order to fulfill the College’s original purposes in the 21st century. As a part of that process, Eastern Union Bible College has changed its name to Eastern Union Christian College. Eastern Union Christian College exists to foster through its learning programs a personal commitment to Christ that will manifest itself in personal integrity, academic excellence, and practical skill from its students as they represent the name of Christ in their various vocations.
