You’re getting this email because you expressed an interest in the Greene County Alumni Club Campus Tour. This year the tour is tentatively scheduled for Friday April 27th. I am looking to tour WOSU (Fawcett Center), lunch at Fawcett Center and then tour the Jameson Crane Sports Medicine Institute. This year’s tours will be shorter and will involve less walking than last year. I will send more information next week. We are looking forward to including as many alumni as possible.

Fellow Alumni,

As provided by our constitution the terms of four members of the board of governors expire each year. This is a call for nominations to fill upcoming vacancies for this year.

Are you ready to run and serve your society and the Buckeye Battalion as a member of the board or do you know someone else who is? If so, please submit a nomination by February 7th, 2018. Submit nominations to [email protected]. for questions contact me at [email protected] or 609-213-8918.

Candidates must be:

Members of OSUAA.
Members 0f the OSU Army ROTC Alumni Society.

Nominations should include a short bio of the candidate including his/her military and civilian experience as well as the contributions they would make. Candidates may include as much information as they like, however they must include a short statement that can be read aloud in one minute or less. A sample follows. (It is fictitious and does not reflect any current board member):

“Hello, I am Bill Smith, Class of 1972. All three years of my active duty were in the 1st Infantry Division as a forward observer, assistant battery XO, and finally, XO. I then served 17 years in the OHARG in various staff positions before retiring. As a civilian I worked for a large corporation, initially as a project manager developing new systems training for the Army. Later I became a program controller. In this role I was responsible for managing the application of resources to various projects, primarily in the SW development area. I served on the Board of Directors of my Condo Association as Treasurer for 10 years and have served on the Board of Governors of the ROTC Alumni Society for 7 years (5 years as chair of the events committee). I am interested in supporting the cadets and cadre of the Buckeye Battalion and in helping The Society grow.”

The Board reserves the right to edit this submission, but nominees will be afforded the opportunity to review edits prior to submission to the membership prior to voting.

The Society’s Board of Governors carries out our mission to provide “fellowship and the furtherance of professional relationships among the alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends.” For this reason, The Society includes cadet participation in most of our events. The Board establishes the dues level, plans and conducts annual events such as the Hall of Fame Banquet, football tailgate/reunion, and several smaller events. The Board maintains liaison with the OSU Alumni Association.

The Board consists of a cadre and a cadet representative, plus 12 Active Members of the Society, 4 of whom are elected each year to staggered three-year terms.

Currently, the Board meets every 2 months at either the Longaberger Alumni House or Converse Hall. Members need not attend in person; every recent meeting has attained the necessary quorum of at least 8 voting members, often with 1-3 “attending” via either conference call or Skype.

If the number of nominees exceeds the number of openings you will be able to vote by email.

If the number of nominees does not exceed the number of openings email voting would not be necessary and the members of the Society in attendance at the Hall of Fame Banquet will be asked to approve the slate by acclamation during the business meeting portion of the event.

Respectfully,
Don Hulslander
President
