Before earning his JD and Master of Arts in Public Policy, Levi Brake spent five years as a middle school math teacher helping students navigate challenges both inside and outside the classroom.

Wanting to make an even greater impact, Levi turned to law school and public policy to advocate for students and communities across Ohio. Along the way, donor-funded scholarships helped make that journey possible.

Rebecca Fordon, Assistant Director for Innovation, Research & Instruction, has been named a 2026 Emerging Leader by the Association of American Libraries (AALL)!

This Memorial Day, we honor those who gave everything in service to our country and recognize those who continue that legacy through their work.

For 2025 graduate Elliott O’Malley, service is deeply personal. Through the Grassbaugh Fellowship, he works with Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio (LASCO) to expand legal services to veterans across Ohio—reaching communities that need it most.

Because of the efforts of Elliott and LASCO, more veterans are being supported every day.

Congratulations to Patricia J. Zettler, John W. Bricker Professor of Law, on being named the inaugural recipient of the College's Faculty Research Award. 👏

Professor Zettler’s work continues to shape important national conversations surrounding public health, FDA regulation, food and drug law, and health policy. From 2023–2025, she served as Deputy General Counsel to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, advising on FDA regulations and federal health policy.

She has published more than 60 articles in leading journals including the New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA, with research covering issues such as opioids, cannabis regulation, to***co policy, and COVID-19 countermeasures.
