College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at East Texas A&M Located in small town, Commerce, Texas, we are about 60 miles Northeast of Dallas. East Texas A&M University has one of the top agricultural programs in Texas.

This gives us the perfect location for our university farm, equine facility, greenhouse facilities, artificial wetlands, and native prairie restoration site. We offer many different majors in the field of agriculture. We offer a top-notch Animal Science program that prepares students for careers in the livestock industry, veterinary medicine, and the equine industry. A large percentage of our gra

duates are accepted into veterinary schools across the nation. We also recognize the need for high school agriculture teachers who will help educate the next generation. Thus, we offer the strongest agriculture and family education curriculum in this part of the country. We also offer hands on opportunities to explore many subjects such as horticulture, wildlife, and livestock management. Through your experience at ETAMU, you will be working with world class professors who perform research in many different areas. There are also numerous research opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students. We are excited to announce Dr. Derald Harp as the keynote speaker for the 2025-2026 4-H Awards Banquet.

Dr. Harp holds a masters degree in Agriculture from Tarleton State University, and a Ph.D. in Horticulture from Texas A&M University. He currently serves as Regents professor of Horticulture at East Texas A&M. In 2022, he was awarded Researcher of the Year at East Texas A&M University.

To help young Texans discover college and career possibilities earlier than ever before, the A&M System is expanding Texas A&M University's LevelUp Texas initiative through the Texas Rural Education Collaborative to better serve students in rural and underserved communities.

The expansion will include serving additional communities in partnership with Texas A&M University-Texarkana, East Texas A&M University, and Texas A&M University-Victoria.
