Congratulations to May 2026 graduate Ritika on your employment! Go Lions!

Please help us welcome Ms. Deivasigamani as our new Willard MS Assistant Director! She will join Mrs. Vela (WMS Head Director) as they open up the new campus in the fall!

Ritika Deivasigamani joins Celina ISD as the assistant band director at Willard Middle School! Ms. Deivasigamani graduated Summa Cum Laude with Highest Honors from East Texas A&M University in 2026, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Ms. Deivasigamani was a member of Dr. Julee Kim Walker’s flute studio and performed with the Wind Ensemble on flute and piccolo for all four years. She was also drum major for the “Pride” Marching Band, serving as head drum major for 2 years. Other involvements included music librarian, piccolo player for the “Pride of the Court” Basketball Band, and officer for the Epsilon Beta chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.

Ms. Deivasigamani recently completed her student teaching at Clark Middle School and Lebanon Trail High School in Frisco ISD, where she frequently worked with beginners and instrumental ensembles of all levels. In the summer of 2025, she also marched with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps as a conductor. She now serves as the Conducting and Leadership Intern for the Troopers. Ms. Deivasigamani’s professional memberships include the National Association for Music Education, the Texas Music Educators Association, and Tau Beta Sigma.

In her free time, Ms. Mani enjoys spending time with family and friends, crocheting, and cooking (and eating!) new foods! Her favorite genre of music is jazz, and her favorite drink is a good cup of coffee!

Ms. Deivasigamani is ecstatic about joining the Willard Middle School Band team and looks forward to meeting and getting to know every new student! She can’t wait to build a culture of fun, family, and excellence within the band hall and the campus!

Summer 2026 events kick off this weekend at the Texas Flute Society!

Looking forward to all the variety this season brings every year, from adjudication to running a festival to teaching to chamber music to orchestral playing to solo playing. A reminder that musicians can wear many hats. For me, It’s what keeps this career so enjoyable and thriving! 🤩

Fall 2026 Flute Studio Intros!

First up: We are so excited to welcome our new Master’s degree student and Graduate Teaching Assistant, Sadie Horton!! 🌟

Sadie received her BM in Music Education at Tarleton State University in 2024, where she studied with Dr. Carolyn Keyes. She has been teaching privately for two years, where she teaches at Springtown ISD, Stephenville ISD, Brock ISD, and Godley ISD. Sadie is a winner of NFA’s 2026 Professional Flute Choir Competition and was invited to perform at the 2023 InterHarmony International Music Festival in Acqui Terme, Italy. She is the founder and director of the Granbury Flute Choir. A fun fact about Sadie is that she has four cats with her fiance!

Next Thursday, April 23rd at 7:30 pm, the East Texas A&M Symphonic Band and Concert Band will give their final program of the semester, entitled Horizons.

This program features the music of Michael Barry, Ron Nelson, Richard Saucedo, Masanori Taruya, Carolyn Bremer, Valerie Coleman, Julie Giroux, and Norman Dello Joio.

These groups are lead by Dr. Stephanie DeLuca and Prof. Hannah Weller, and will be guest conducted by Christian Guillen and Edgar Monsivais.

We hope you will join us in Finney Concert Hall for another fantastic evening of music! Go Lions! 🦁💙💛
