Freshman and sophomore first-generation college students across the U.S. who are interested in health care and Medicare policy are encouraged to apply for a paid 12-week internship in Washington, DC. This includes students pursuing courses of study in health policy, health economics, public policy, social policy, or related subjects.

I wanted to share an opportunity for nursing students to gain more experience in the hospital setting. As you know, most hospitals are experiencing a surge in respiratory illnesses. We are pulling in as much support as possible for the staff and one of the ways is by providing an opportunity for nursing students to function as nursing assistants and offer this temporary 5-month (per diem) position. Please share this with your students and have them apply. I believe we have 20 positions to fill.

Dear Students,

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a First Gen RN Nursing Department picnic on the Hayward Campus on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022 from 12:00PM-1:00PM on the VBT Gallery Lawn (left side of the VBT Building)!!

All students, staff and faculty are welcome to attend this event! This is a great opportunity for our first generation college students to network with other nursing students who may be facing similar challenges and triumphs! During the picnic, at 12:30PM, we are very pleased to have one of our campus advisors meet with First Gen RN students (and any other students interested in attending) to discuss challenges you may be facing and resources available to help.

Lunch and games will be provided.

Please come and celebrate our wonderful group of First Gen RN students!! We hope to see you all there!

The PB-RNR is a highly competitive nursing traineeship supported through the Office of Academic Affiliations. Volunteer Opportunity:

I am a former lecturer in Health Sciences. In any respect, I went into semi-retirement & have moved to Portland. However, before I left, I had the unpleasant task of institutionalizing my sister for early-onset Alzheimer’s over at Lakeside Park on Lake Merritt in Oakland.
I was just down this week visiting my sister & one of my observations was that she, along w/ many of the patients could benefit from a little more engagement - personal interaction. I discussed this with the Executive Director of the facility & she wholeheartedly agreed!
In fact, she is kindly interested in how Lakeside can get volunteers, interns, etc?
If so, I can assist by putting you in touch with the facility.
