We'd like you to meet Ben Blumenthal, one of our ABSN students who's about to take the nursing world by storm.

When Ben was looking for an accelerated nursing program, he knew what mattered: rigorous academics, yes, but also real support and faculty who actually know your name. That's exactly what he found at Cabarrus College.

Ben shared with us:

"I chose Cabarrus College's ABSN program due to the perfect mixture of academic rigor, supportive faculty, and great student-to-professor ratios. The structure of the program allows me to develop my clinical skills that will ensure I am providing excellent care. After graduation, I plan to pass the NCLEX and work in the ICU. After building my skills in nursing, I will pursue education to become a flight nurse or a CRNA!"

From the ICU to the skies (or the OR), Ben has a clear vision for his nursing career. And with the foundation he's building here, we have no doubt he'll get there.

Students like Ben remind us why we do what we do. Keep pushing forward, Ben. We're cheering you on!

Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday, March 8. Don't forget to set your clocks forward one hour before bed on Saturday night.

While gaining an extra hour of daylight is welcome, losing an hour of sleep can impact your health and well-being. As a healthcare education institution, we want to share some practical tips to help you adjust smoothly.

Prepare Your Body for the Time Change:

- Adjust gradually: Start going to bed 15-20 minutes earlier each night leading up to Sunday to ease the transition.

- Maintain a consistent sleep schedule: Try to wake up and go to bed at the same time each day, even on weekends.

- Get morning sunlight: Exposure to natural light in the morning helps reset your internal clock and boost alertness.

- Stay hydrated: Proper hydration supports your body's adjustment to schedule changes.

- Limit caffeine and screens: Avoid caffeine in the afternoon and reduce screen time before bed to improve sleep quality.

- Be patient with yourself: It can take a few days for your body to fully adjust. Give yourself grace during this transition.

Special reminder for our students: If you have early clinical rotations or classes next week, plan ahead to ensure you're well-rested and ready to provide safe, quality patient care.

Take care of yourself this weekend, and we'll see you next week refreshed and ready.

From Student to Leader: Meet Victoria Barbee

Victoria Barbee, MSN, RN, is a three-time graduate of Cabarrus College who now serves as Course Coordinator for our ADN program. Her journey from student to faculty member spans five years and three degrees: ADN (December 2019), BSN (December 2021), and MSN in Leadership (December 2024).

In Victoria's own words:

"I chose Cabarrus College for my education not once, but three times, because this institution consistently provided exactly what I needed to grow as both a student and a healthcare professional. The smaller, more personal class sizes allowed me to build real connections with my instructors and classmates, creating an environment where I felt seen, supported, and encouraged to succeed.

Choosing Cabarrus College three times wasn't an accident. It was a reflection of trust, experience, and the confidence that each time, I was investing in an education that would continue shaping me into the nurse and professional I aspired to become.

Now, standing on the other side of the classroom as an instructor at the very college that shaped me, I recognize just how impactful those experiences were. My journey (from student to instructor) has come full circle. It's an honor to give back to the same community that invested so deeply in my success and to help guide the next generation of healthcare professionals just as my mentors once guided me."

Victoria's story demonstrates the lasting impact of quality healthcare education and the meaningful relationships that define the Cabarrus College experience. Whether you're just starting your healthcare career or ready to advance to the next level, we're here to support your journey.
