Judy Zang was featured in this month’s CCU Staff Senate newsletter. Here’s a sneak peek:
Judy Zang, widely recognized for her role as Director of National Scholarships in the CCU Office of National Scholarships in the HTC Honors College, shares her journey to CCU and what inspires her to help students reach their full potential.
Q: What does a typical day in your role look like for you, and what are some of your key responsibilities?
A: The Office of National Scholarships (ONS) is staffed by my amazing GA Andy Lane, a doctoral student in Higher Education Administration, and me. There are 175+ nationally competitive awards in our database that fund opportunities of all kinds, for first-year through graduate students and alumni. Deadlines are throughout the year. Each day, we review our game plan. We send various communications to promote, track, recruit, and more. I meet students to give them feedback on their application drafts and talk about next steps. If they are new advisees, I get to know them, help them revise their resumes, make sure they are plugged in to the campus and greater community (and if not, how they might do so), explore awards that match their goals, and discuss a game plan with them.
