Thank you to everyone who joined us October 15th for a fun evening with our CCU Space Club! From racing across campus and winning prizes to enjoying some music on prince lawn, we had a great time and are looking forward to the next time.

Here’s some of the highlights from this event!

We’re back with another installment of   at  : a short reels-series of where we catch up with members of the CCU Space Program to learn more about what they did at this year’s Small Satellite Conference to support the ChantSat-1 Mission.

Today, we’re catching up with Hope Morrow, the Space Program’s project manager, and Dr. Wes Hitt, the Space Program’s lead PI. They spent their time at SmallSat researching opportunities for actually getting the ChantSat-1 satellite into space!

Our PI, representing well at Waccamaw High School!

Dr. George “Wes” Hitt, chair of the Department of Physics and Engineering Science and one of the faculty leads for the Coastal Carolina University Space Program, recently visited Waccamaw High School for the National Association of Student Councils event, where more than 400 student council members from approximately 20 schools attended.

This year’s theme, “Blasting Off with Leadership”, was the perfect segue for Dr. Hitt to talk about the space program, share insights on teamwork, and inspire students to reach for the stars.

Thank you, Dr. Hitt, for representing and sharing the amazing educational opportunities available at the University, and thank you to Waccamaw High School Warriors for inviting us to be part of such an inspiring day!

Congrats to our OK Day contest winners: Miles Wolf, Emily Viele, and Aidan Aubrey!

They’ll each be taking home one of these swag bags for correctly answering our quiz questions are OK Day. At our table, we had a tub of water weighing in at 5.0575 kg —and if whenever guessed the closest weight, won a prize. We also asked everyone to write down a household item that they think is closest in size to our CubeSat.

Now we want to hear from you—what household object do YOU think matches the size of our CubeSat best?

Drop your best guess in the comments!
