Students from across the state submitted short fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction exploring this yearโ€™s theme, ๐‘๐จ๐จ๐ญ๐ฌ & ๐‘๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ. Winners receive prize money and the opportunity to publish their work in Waccamaw: A Journal of Contemporary Literature.

Check out this amazing event tomorrow, April 7: Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation, is a published author, computer scientist, lecturer, mathematician, historian, columnist, preservationist, environmental justice advocate, environmentalist, film consultant, and โ€œThe Art-ivist.โ€ She is the founder of the premiere advocacy organization for the continuation of Gullah/Geechee culture, the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition. RECEPTION 4:30-5:30 Wall Boardroom, KEYNOTE TALK 6:00-7:30 Johnson Auditorium

MONDAY APRIL 7 join us for our Ella Baker Day celebration with Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah Geechee Nation. Queen Quet is an environmental justice advocate, cultural preservationist, and internationally known speaker on Gullah Geechee history and culture. We will host a reception (with refreshments!) and book signing from 4:30-5:30 in the Wall Boardroom and the keynote talk will take place from 6:00-7:30 in the Johnson Auditorium.
