October, 19th, at 7PM in the Backdoor Playhouse.

The Up On the Mountain Music Series will feature country music singer-songwriter Brandon Lee Adams on October, 19th, at 7PM in the Backdoor Playhouse.

The debut album by Brandon Lee Adams is called Hardest Kind of Memories. Brandon started to play the guitar at the age of eight when his grandfather Robert Adams put his old Martin D-28 in his grandson’s hands saying, “Learn G,C and D. You’re playing in church this weekend.” After learning the chords and putting many grueling hours into his practice, he got his hungry hands on Tony Rice’s Church Street Blues album. His musical career began while trying to learn Tony Rice’s works. To this day, Tony has a profound influence on the direction of his musical journey. To Brandon, it was not just playing the guitar, it was the song, the words, the vocal.

This event is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by the English department.

To all who have supported the Talon Theater, thank you. With all the people scheduled to move temporarily into Foundation Hall in the coming months it has been decided that the Talon Theater will not exist as a performance space for the foreseeable future. The good news is that the Backdoor Playhouse will be open for business in the fall of 2017. Thank you again for all your support.

There has been a lot of questions lately concerning the recent decision by the Space Request Committee at the urging of Jim Cobb and Jack Butler to close the Talon Theater and make it back into a storage room. We in the theatre program have done our level best to convince them that this is not a good idea but no one is listening to us. The only hope is for students, faculty, alumni, and friends of the University theatre to reach out to Dr. Oldham, Dr. Ghorashi and Dr. Stephens and make the case for the continued existence of the Talon Theater in Foundation Hall. I have hoped that we would be able to continue to use the Talon as a "second stage" for the campus community but no one in Facilities is supporting that idea. Let them know you want to SAVE THE TALON!!

Great Improv Night in this cool theater that the administration would rather be a storage closet.
