This week we are spotlighting AITP!
President Bailey Hooper gave us some insight into this organization.

“Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) is a technically focused organization; however, we are open to all majors because everyone uses IT. As an organization, we strive to create a fun, enriching environment for our members! All of our meetings and events are focused on making our members better prepared for their future. We offer multiple opportunities for networking with recruiters from NTT Data, HCA, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and many more!”

Make sure to be looking at how you can be involved in the College of Business!

NACE 8 COMPETENCY - TEAMWORK
This week's competency is Teamwork!
It is when you build and maintain collaborative relationships to work effectively toward common goals, while appreciating diverse viewpoints and shared responsibilities.

Here are some examples of Teamwork in action!
- Listen carefully to others, taking time to understand and ask appropriate questions without interrupting.
- Effectively manage conflict, interact with and respect diverse personalities, and meet ambiguity with resilience.
- Be accountable for individual and team responsibilities and deliverables.
- Employ personal strengths, knowledge, and talents to complement those of others.

We all know the people who we dread having in group projects... the ones who are not good at Teamwork. Don't be that person and practice this competency today.

NACE 8 COMPETENCIES - EQUITY AND INCLUSION

Here is this week's competency to help you become career ready!
Equity and Inclusion demonstrates the awareness, attitude, knowledge, and skills required to equitably engage and include people from different local and global cultures. Also, Equity and Inclusion is where you engage in anti-racist practices that actively challenge the systems, structures, and policies of racism.

Some examples of this competency in action:
- Solicit and use feedback from multiple cultural perspectives to make inclusive and equity-minded decisions.
- Actively contribute to inclusive and equitable practices that influence individual and systemic change.
- Advocate for inclusion, equitable practices, justice, and empowerment for historically marginalized communities.
- Seek global cross-cultural interactions and experiences that enhance one’s understanding of people from different demographic groups and that leads to personal growth.
- Keep an open mind to diverse ideas and new ways of thinking.
- Identify resources and eliminate barriers resulting from individual and systemic racism, inequities, and biases.
- Demonstrate flexibility by adapting to diverse environments.
- Address systems of privilege that limit opportunities for members of historically marginalized communities.

This is very important stuff. Keep tuning to keep learning about all NACE 8 competencies!

We are going to be highlighting student organizations and first up is Student CPT!
It is important to be involved to gain community and connections!

"Student Center for Public Trust is our very own local Chapter of the NASBA organization by the same name. The goal is pretty simple, generate trust by creating ethical leaders in the business world. We span across the different colleges here on-campus because, when it comes to ethics, everyone should be included. Our chapter does a lot of scenario based exercises during our meetings, as well as eat delicious food. Come join us in Johnson Hall 220 at 11 a.m. on Thursday November 10th. You won’t regret it!" - Current President Kannan Hanvey
