Today, April 29th, members handed out donuts in the Roaden University Center after having to do an indoor event due to weather. Even though our Dyeing in Dead Week event was canceled due to weather, we handed out donuts. Students were able to grab a free donut and learn about Rotary and the Polio Eradication project globally. The Counseling Center, Intercultural Affairs, and multiple other departments also received a dozen of donuts for their staff.

We took all extra donuts to the Cookeville Fire Department and Cookeville Police Department. We thank them for all they do to protect Cookeville and Tennessee Tech!

Huge thanks to the Cookeville Sunset Rotary for buying and donating Purple Pinkie donuts for us to give out! They also donated ~$3700 to Polio Eradication, and we can not thank them enough. We also thank our other Rotary clubs in Cookeville, Noon and Breakfast, for their continued support of Rotaract and our events.

We also want to shout out our Treasurer Caleb and senior Laci for all they have done with our Rotaract Club. Our club will have a hole missing without them.

Rotary is focused on Polio Eradication, as well as the other 7 areas of focus. Find more information on Rotary.org and find your cause and call to mission! It takes .30 cents to vaccinate a child from Polio, and cases are in the single digits thanks to Rotary & other organizations helping eradicate.

Club President Nicholas Thomas was invited by our local Rotary clubs in Cookeville and District 6780 leadership to the Mid-South PETS Conference! PETS stands for the "President-Elect Training Seminar" and is a multi-day event to train upcoming or returning Rotary club presidents on the values, rules, and responsibilities of Rotary International. Attendees are sent to multiple breakout session throughout the three-day event and listen to multiple Keynote speakers about Rotary International and their personal experiences.

Mid-South Conference includes districts 6710 (E. Kentucky), 6740 (W. Kentucky), 6760 (W. Tennessee), 6780 (E. Tennessee), 6860 (N. Alabama), and 6880 (S. Alabama).

Nicholas volunteered as a Sergeant-at-arms. He helped direct attendees to their breakout sessions, answered questions, and any other duties as requested. Through this position, Nic was able to attend multiple breakout sessions to learn about The Rotary Foundation, new member recruitment, upcoming goals for the 2026-2027 Rotary year, and so much more! TN Tech Rotaract thanks our District leadership and our local clubs for the opportunity to send our leader to this conference, and we can't wait to see what he has brought back!

This conference also had a service project, Soles-4-Souls. Soles-for-Souls is a non-profit that takes gently used or new shoes and gives them to those in need of a pair of shoes. They believe that a good pair of shoes can change a life and Rotary surely delivered with an estimated 25,000 shoes donated from the six districts attending and their communities!

Learning about Rotaries 7 areas of Focus, the Action Plan, and our mission statement sheds new light on TN Tech Rotaract's mission on our campus and the Cookeville area. Using our new knowledge and the multitude of connections our President made, we feel empowered to do bigger projects and partner with our local community and the district to make a lasting impact on our area.

On Monday, March 9th, Rotaract members set up on Centennial Plaza to fundraiser for CASA-GAL, an organization that supplies guardians ad litem to get children out of abusive and neglectful situations. This is a project with personal connections as our advisor, Dr. Amy Hill, works with the organization directly. Members sold plates of whip cream to TN Tech students for $3-$5, depending on the amount they wished to use. Students were able to choose their target and even had the opportunity to pie a professor (Dr. Hill)! In total, we raised $169.55 for CASA-GAL to be used towards getting children out of neglectful situations. We left feeling accomplished and smelling of whipped cream.

Huge shoutout to club treasurer Caleb Coley for being the main target! We would not have been nearly as successful without him. Shoutouts to everyone else who got pied and those who took up or money. Thank you to CASA-GAL for partnering with us and we look forward to future partnerships!
