ABOUT FROST FLUTE STUDIO:
Under the direction of Jennifer Grim, the Frost Flute Studio is comprised of outstanding flute players from all over the world. The studio maintains an active academic year with numerous concerts, chamber recitals, solo recitals, audition preparation classes, and masterclasses by world-renowned guest artists. Members of the Frost Flute Studio have been winners of nation
al and international competitions and been featured as performers at both the Florida Flute Convention and National Flute Association Annual Convention. In addition, the Frost Flute Ensemble presents yearly concerts with innovative programs and has also participated in flute conventions. Students in the flute studio can receive undergraduate degrees in Instrumental Performance, Music Therapy, Music Education, and Music Business, while Master of Music, Doctor of Musical Arts, and Artist Diploma degrees are available to graduate students. Students take weekly lessons, studio class, and have the option to take extra topic classes, such as technique, pedagogy and literature, baroque flute, and orchestral excerpts. Students are also able to play in the Frost Flute Ensemble and participate in chamber music, coordinated by Valerie Coleman. The Frost School of Music Department of Instrumental Performance supports three large ensembles, The Frost Symphony Orchestra, Frost Wind Ensemble, and Frost Symphonic Winds. All students are required to participate in large ensembles throughout their degree. In addition to the large ensembles, students may audition for Ensemble Ibis, Frost’s New Music Ensemble.
