Specifically designed to meet a company's recruiting needs by providing innovative hiring solutions, we offer employers a convenient way to recruit and network with top-notch University of Miami students and alumni from all disciplines. The 12,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility includes the Career Technology Lab and five comfortable interview suites. A large career library is used to host workshops, career education programs, and employer-sponsored events, while a conference room is available for smaller events. Meet Penny Markowski, a senior majoring in psychology and history!

Penny is taking her next big step by enrolling in the University of South Florida’s graduate program in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. Her journey reflects both passion, perseverance and the impact of strong support along the way.

A key part of Penny’s success was working with Carly, Director of Career Education and career coach at Toppel Career Center. From helping her identify the right program to guiding her through personal statements, Carly provided unwavering support and encouragement throughout the application process.

Penny encourages fellow students to take full advantage of Toppel’s resources. “Toppel is a standout resource we have,” she shares, noting how easy it is to receive personalized, one-on-one guidance from knowledgeable and supportive staff. As Penny begins this exciting new chapter, her story highlights the value of seeking support and making the most of the resources available at UM.

Piece of Advice:

“Follow your heart when figuring out your path. This is YOUR path, not anyone else’s. It’s okay for your passions and interests to change along the way. Even if you were once set on a specific career path but later decide to make a change, that’s okay! Listen to yourself and choose what you believe will truly make you happy and fulfilled in your professional life.”

Meet Grace Blauvelt, a senior majoring in finance and marketing!

A single email from the Toppel Career Center sparked Grace’s interest in Citi’s early career program, leading her to apply and secure an internship with the company. During her internship, she gained firsthand experience in how a global financial institution operates while developing strong analytical and professional skills.

Motivated by her experience, Grace became a Citi Campus Ambassador, where she organized coffee chats and created networking opportunities for fellow students. With continued support from Toppel, including resume reviews and application guidance, she was able to confidently present her skills and stand out as a candidate.

Now, her journey has come full circle as she prepares to return to Citi this July as a full-time Services Analyst in New York City.

Piece of Advice:

“Don’t be afraid to leverage the UM network and reach out to alumni; almost all are more than willing to help and want to see you succeed. Those conversations and connections can make a huge difference and open doors!”
