Center for Coastal Studies The Center for Coastal Studies conducts ecological research on coastal issues.

The Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) is an interdisciplinary marine research institute. CCS conducts basic and applied research, ecological monitoring, public education outreach, and graduate-level education and research programs.

Center staff and students are presenting at the AI-themed Research & Innovation showcase event today. Audiomoth data are on display. These are passive acoustic devices for detecting presence of species that make sound (e.g., birds, insects, dolphins, shrimp). We are deploying them in our Texas wetlands, as well as mangroves in The Gambia.

Monthly monitoring on the Nueces River Tidal Segment took place this week on Wednesday, February 18th. The weather was overcast, breezy, and warm with temps in the mid 70s.

After a couple of months of extremely low tides, the water level has come up some. It gets very shallow in sections out there. The water was very green with chlorophyll.
