Our thoughts and prayers are with the men and women of Leon County Sheriff's Office and Chief Walter’s family and friends. Rest easy, Sir.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our Chief Deputy Brent Walter.

Chief Deputy Walter dedicated 25 years of honorable service to the citizens of Leon County and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. Before joining our agency, he served with distinction at the Houston Police Department for 21 years, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and experience that shaped his career and the lives of those he mentored.

Throughout his 46 years in law enforcement, Chief Deputy Walter exemplified integrity, courage, and an unwavering commitment to protecting and serving. His legacy will forever remain in the Sheriff’s Office and in the countless lives he touched through his dedication and compassion.

Chief Deputy Walter will be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the community.

We ask that you keep his loved ones and our law enforcement family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Chief- your watch is complete.
