Happy , a national day established to kick off the charitable giving season! is a global genorsity movement that encourages individuals across the nation to consider giving back gifts of time, expertise and financial contributions to non-for-profits. As you make your plans to support your favorite charities before the end of the year, we hope you will keep SUNY Cortland in mind. Less than 25% of our operating budget comes from the state, and without financial gifts from our generous and dedicated alumni and friends, SUNY Cortland wouldn't be able to enhance the educational experiences for our students without increasing their debt. As we conclude National Philanthropy Week and prepare to celebrate the annual Cortaca Jug tomorrow, we want to bring it home to our Red Dragon family. SUNY Cortland is grateful to have the an amazing network of dedicated and generous alumni and friends who are passionate about securing the future for our beautiful institution and our students.

Thank you to everyone who supports current and future Red Dragons throughout the year by giving back to the Cortland College Foundation. In the Foundation, our goal is to ensure that every student has access to an exceptional education and unique, hands-on college experiences, and we couldn't do that without your kindness.

Greek life at SUNY Cortland isn't just about making life long friendships and networking, it's about making a difference in one's community. The individuals within these organizations are determined to do various fundraisers throughout their time as members to give back to organizations and causes that are important to them.

Whether they host events, table around campus, or post donation links on their social media, the amount of money they raise goes to improving all sorts of different aspects to help make a difference in the lives of other people/organizations.

Today we feature the SUNY Cortland Cupboard. The mission statement of the program is "to address food insecurity of SUNY Cortland students in need by providing with food items and personal care products in a respectful and private manner at no cost, thereby promoting their well-being and helping them pursue academic excellence."

The Cupboard supplies canned goods and personal hygiene items, as well as hot meals once a month. To meet the needs of our students, they collect donations from organizations such as the Cortland Salvation Army, Catholic Charities of Cortland County, the Cortland College Foundation, and more.

Thank you to the SUNY Cortland Cupboard for supporting the physical and mental health of students by providing them with a safe space to combat food insecurity. Students can reach their full potential and feel more comfortable on campus because of the items you provide them with.

The Student Government Association (SGA) represents the voice of the student body at SUNY Cortland. Members of the organization work to address students' concerns about making the environment here at SUNY Cortland as comfortable as possible. We are thankful for the staff and elected officers in SGA that continue to support all students on campus to allow for a community in which every individual's voice can be heard on campus.

One of the biggest ways SGA supports our students is through the SUNY Cortland professional clothing closet, Dragons Dress for Success. This program launched in 2019 in order to provide students with gently-used professional attire for internships, student teaching and job interviews. The service is offered by SGA with support from Career Services and the SUNY Cortland Cupboard.

This act of kindness and dedication to giving back to the campus community by addressing clothing insecurity shows the importance of giving back in action and the benefits it brings to our students.

As we kick off National Philanthropy Week, we would like to take the time to honor the brave and selfless individuals who have served and continue to serve our country. The things they do remind us of the importance of giving back not only to our country but to our local community.

National Philanthropy Week is a time where we focus on educating the campus community on the importance of giving back and the opportunities are provided through the generous contributions of others.

Thank you to our Veterans for their continued dedication and service to our country, inspiring others to come together and give back to make our communities and country a better place.
