PERMIAS Oregon State University (Indonesian Students Association of) is a non-profit organization designed to embrace the Indonesians community within the university and to endorse Indonesian culture in the Corvallis, OR area. Persatuan Mahasiswa Indonesia di Amerika Serikat, abbreviated as PERMIAS, is an Indonesian Student Association that has been in many US universities since the 1960s. Now, in

Batik is an art 🎨, some kind of unique pattern used to make Indonesian clothing 👕
Batik uses “cotton” and “silk” for the cloth, and to design the patterns it can use four different tools; “Stamp,” “Dyes,” “Wax” and “Wajan.”
Two of the mainly used process of making batik is “written” and “printed.” Written batik ✍️ are the types of batik where the creator would make each pattern by their own hands, while printed batik is where it would be stamped with a copper stamp called “Cap.”
Furthermore, there is a lot of batik patterns, some of the popular ones are “Parung,” “Ceplok” and “Parang.”
Batik is an important part of the culture in Indonesia 🇮🇩 , and today we celebrates it by wearing them ☺️ @ Oregon State University

PERMIAS Spring Retreat 2019! ✨ Last weekend we went to the coast to get away from our busy school schedules and spent some quality time together (we even co-ordinated outfits with matching t-shirts 😜) We also used this time to say goodbye to our graduating seniors - Radit, Kevin, Kenneth, Tri, Martin, Nicho, Barkah, and Pyrena. Ready to get dirty this spring? PERMIAS OSU has you covered with KOTOR (Kompetisi Tahunan Oregon), our annual sports competition for badminton, basketball and indoor soccer! Its back, and we couldn’t be more excited to announce it! Join us at McAlexander Field House (1800 SW Jefferson Way, Corvallis, OR) on May 4th for a fun day of competitions, including:

3 on 3 Basketball (up to 5 players/team)
$100 registration $400 prize

Indoor Soccer 6 vs 6 (up to 10 players/team)
$200 registration $800 prize

Doubles Badminton
$50 registration $200 prize

There will also be a 3 point shootout competition, soccer skills challenge and many more!! Winners will get prize money, medals and also get their names engraved to our annual KOTOR trophy! Hope to see you all there!

Thank you to everyone who came to our event! We are all very grateful for your support! Here’s a little glimpse of our event last Saturday - more pictures are coming 😊 In these photos, Dennie is introducing the angklung to our audience in preparation for leading them in playing a song. Our theme for Indo Night this year was “Angklung”. We chose the angklung because each one plays a different note and music is made when they are played by many people all at once. This reflects the Unity in Diversity that is written into our country’s national motto, “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika”. We are reminded that even though we all have our unique differences, we come together as one to make the country we all call home better and more beautiful. @ Oregon State University
