Beavs Lead: Change

This will be a one-day leadership retreat on the Oregon coast! The goal is to practice how to address inaccessibility in outdoor spaces, specifically for those with disability, and then implement practices to create more inclusive and accessible spaces. Students will have the opportunity to connect with others in the OSU community who are social justice driven and dedicated to creating positive change. Join us for Beavs Lead: Change, and discover the power you hold and how you can use it to Spark Change! Food & transportation will be provided. This event is open to all students! No previous experience with leadership development is required.

Our Connection for June is Community Engagement & Leadership (CEL)!

Community Engagement & Leadership (CEL) offers a variety of community-engaged, experiential opportunities for students to engage in service, build leadership skills, and learn about creating social change! CEL connects students with local community leaders and organizations to practice relational leadership. This spring, CEL hosted two programs on the Oregon coast:

🌍 Estuary trail clean-up - as part of their annual Earth Saturday of Service on April 26, CEL partnered with Hatfield Marine Science Center to offer a service project where students cleaned a nearby estuary trail and then toured the Hatfield facilities!

💥 Beavs Lead: Change - On May 10, CEL held a new, one-day leadership retreat at South Beach State Park where students engaged with local community leaders from the Yakona Nature Preserve & Oregon Bird Alliance to learn about inclusive and justice-oriented natural resource management. Students participated in activities on how to analyze and leverage power and relationships to create change!

CEL offers service projects, workshops, community dialogues, trips and more that are open to all OSU students! Swing by their office in the Student Experience Center (SEC), Room 250 to connect with their staff!
