At Oregon State University, where I've had the privilege of meeting remarkable individuals from over 90 countries, the Office of International Services (OIS) stands as a beacon of support and guidance for international students and scholars who venture far from home in pursuit of education and research.
Providing a welcoming embrace through my role in OIS has been integral to my journey, offering timely assistance and fostering a sense of belonging to international visitors as they and their families settle in Oregon. From navigating visa requirements to understanding the intricacies of the American academic system, I know our office's unwavering support has been invaluable.
One of the highlights of my experience at OSU has been the opportunity to coordinate and participate in programs like the International Friendship Program and cultural programming with community partners: Corvallis Multicultural Literacy Center, Crossroads International, International Moms Group, OSU Folk Club, Willamette Valley Friendship Force, and many others. Through these initiatives, I've had the chance to not only share my own perspectives but also to forge meaningful connections with peers from diverse backgrounds. These connections, nurtured through shared experiences and cultural exchanges, have enriched my time at OSU immeasurably.
As I reflect on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the support of OIS and the vibrant community it has helped me become a part of.
