Today, Live2Free members passed out pins for DENIM DAY and helped educate their peers on why we wear denim 👖⭐️

Why DO we wear denim on Denim Day??
—> Denim Day began as a response to a 1992 Italian Supreme Court case. The court overturned a r**e verdict in favor of the accused because the victim had been wearing tight jeans at the time she was assaulted, which, they claimed, implied she had consented.

Founded in response to this injustice, Denim Day began a movement to combat sexual violence and victim blaming — a movement we seek to continue not just today but in all our initiatives at the Global Center.

Two weeks ago, educators, students, and community leaders came together for Ensure Justice 2026 to better understand the risks young people face and how to respond with practical, prevention-focused strategies.

With spring break just passing for Vanguard and beginning across many OCDE schools, this is an important time to stay aware. Changes in routine and increased time online can increase vulnerability for youth. The tools and insights shared at Ensure Justice are especially relevant during this season.

Barbie debuted in 1959, at a time when many careers were still closed to women. Over the decades she has been portrayed in 200+ professions, reflecting how expectations for women’s roles have expanded.

During Women’s History Month, it’s a reminder that progress for women has come through research, advocacy, and persistent work—and there is still more to do.

Learning the issues and engaging the evidence helps move that progress forward.

Before we gather for Ensure Justice this Friday, preview the conversation in a special episode of the Ending Human Trafficking Podcast.

Adjunct Professor Ruthi Hanchett sits down with keynote speaker Dr. Nanyamka Redmond to explore why resilience is relational and why information alone will never protect young people.

This episode sets the stage for our conference theme, Resilient and Ready: Building Youth Who Stand, Speak, and Lead.

Listen now and join us March 6 at Vanguard University.

Did you know the first documented trafficking case in Orange County wasn’t found by a task force? It was uncovered because a child noticed something was wrong and had the courage to speak up. That one moment of readiness changed a life forever. This is why our 2026 theme is RESILIENT AND READY. We believe that teaching our youth and students to recognize the signs isn’t just education, but a survival skill that saves lives.

True justice isn’t just about the perimeter we build; it’s about the internal structure we provide. At this year’s Ensure Justice conference, we’re shifting the conversation from “fences” to “scaffolding.” While a fence tries to keep the world away, scaffolding equips the child to rise above it. Every peer educator, teacher, and program director serves as a vital piece of that structure. By providing consistency, mentorship, and solidness, we ensure that every child has the support they need to thrive safely. Together, we aren’t just building a barrier, we are building a foundation.
