VU MSN Alumni, Danika Degroot, published her thesis research along with her advisor, Dr. Annette Callis, Director of Graduate Nursing in the Dec 2022 issue of the Journal of Emergency Nursing. This study provides meaningful evidence that role delineation in patient arrest situations increased effectiveness in code teamwork and therefore has the potential to improve patient care outcomes if implemented as a practice standard.

Congratulations to one of our August 2022 MSN alumni, Deborah Yoon RN, MSN, OCN, Oncology Nurse Navigator at St Jude Crosson Cancer Institute. Deborah's abstract, "Infusion Nurses’ Personal Protective Equipment Use While Handling Chemotherapy Drugs," has been accepted for a podium presentation at the Western Institute of Nursing’s 56th Annual Communicating Nursing Research Conference in April 2023. I had the privilege of presenting our research on the Impact of Moral Injury on Self-reported Work Performance in Nurses at CACNS (California Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists) Conference this month held at the University of San Diego. This provides excellent evidence for the continued development of Care Programs for Nurses in an effort to support Nurse Well-being and promote optimal patient care outcomes.

Don’t chose a nursing specialty based off of the cool factor… because doing “cool” stuff will only make you happy for so long. There is so much more that makes up job satisfaction!

Providence St. Jude Medical Center nurse, Lee Villegas, receives roses from Dr. Annette Callis, Director of Graduate Nursing at Vanguard University, upon completion of Lee’s thesis research on the Importance of Nurse Debriefing in Patient Arrest Situations in partial fulfillment of her Master’s of Science degree in Nursing.
