At our Community Education Department, our mission is to foster a dynamic and inclusive learning environment, empowering individuals of all ages and backgrounds to thrive in their personal and professional pursuits. Our four program pillars, carefully designed to cater to diverse needs, are:

Your art. Your ideas. Your creative time.

Explore Your Art is a relaxed, supportive class designed for artists of all experience levels. Whether you love acrylics, watercolor, drawing, or another medium, this is your opportunity to slow down, create, experiment, and develop your skills.

Work at your own pace while receiving individualized guidance, trying new techniques, asking questions, and getting helpful feedback from the instructor. You'll also have the chance to connect with fellow artists and share your creative journey.

All artistic mediums are welcome. Students should bring their own materials.

Turn a simple block of wood into something extraordinary.

Beginning Wood Carving (Level 1) is the perfect introduction to the timeless art of wood carving for adults and teens ages 16 and up. Whether you're looking to learn a new hobby, work with your hands, or create something uniquely your own, this hands-on class will help you get started.

You'll learn essential knife skills, wood carving techniques, tool safety, wood selection, grain direction, and tool care while completing beginner-friendly carving projects in a supportive environment. Best of all, all tools and materials are included and yours to keep after the course ends.

The class is taught by Wyatt Sample, an experienced woodcarver with more than 25 years of carving experience and current president of the Saint Charles Area Woodcarvers.

Get ready for a crepe-cooking adventure where things get flipped, filled, folded, and devoured! Crepe Making for Kids puts young chefs in charge as they mix, pour, flip, and create their very own delicious masterpieces.

The real fun begins when it’s time to choose the fillings. Go sweet with Nutella and strawberries, or take it savory with ham and cheese. Mix it up, try something new, and see what delicious combinations you can dream up!

Along the way, kids will build real kitchen skills while learning about measuring, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety—all while having a seriously fun time.

Tai Chi: Taiji Ten–Four Corners is a gentle, low-impact way to move, strengthen, and reset. Through smooth, continuous movements and repetition, you'll work on balance, flexibility, coordination, stability, and strength while giving your mind a chance to slow down.

You'll learn 10 essential movements inspired by the traditional 24-form, practiced in four directions to help develop flow and body awareness. No rushing, no high-impact workouts—just purposeful movement that builds skills one step at a time.

New to Tai Chi? You're welcome! This class is designed for all ages and fitness levels, including complete beginners. If you've studied the Eight Techniques and Five Steps, you'll have a helpful foundation, but no previous experience is required.

Get ready for a frightfully fun night in the kitchen! Kids ages 7–12 are invited to join us for a Halloween-themed cooking adventure filled with spooky snacks, creepy creations, and wickedly delicious treats.

Young chefs will learn basic cooking and kitchen safety skills while making festive favorites like Spooky Calzone Snake, Monster Mouths, and Zombie “Blood.” They’ll get hands-on in the kitchen, have fun creating their spooky dishes, and enjoy the tasty results!
