Jenna Pool '95 helped shoot a feature documentary *and* it is premiering this weekend at the Sundance Film Festival which is screening *online* this year.

"Brainwashed: Camera S*x Power" screens 1/22 and 1/24 with extended viewing windows and "uses film clips by A-list directors from the 1940s through to the present, to show how the visual grammar of cinema contributes to conditions that create discriminatory hiring practice, pay inequity and a pervasive environment of sexual harassment in the film industry and beyond.”

Genevieve Gorjance '19 is now working for Agricola as a farmer, butcher, and salumiera -- a female salami maker! She shared that Agricola has always cherished visits from Sterling students for long conversations about sustainable agriculture and ravioli making. The farm has launched a campaign to purchase equipment that will allow for an expanded cured meat production. Interested in learning more about their plans and how you can chip in if you'd like?

Jordan and Marina, both 2018 alums, and their new son Arlo have been impacted by the historic rains in southern Vermont. The farmhouse that they have been lovingly restoring is now uninhabitable after a landslide. and insurance does not cover the loss. There is a chance that they may be able to get some assistance but it will most likely not be enough to rebuild. If anyone is able to help this young family, it would be greatly appreciated. If you are not able to donate, please keep them in your thoughts. We want to show them love!

Hi, my name is Jen Keating and I, along with my husband Morgan, Heather Clar… Jennifer Keating needs your support for Help for Jordan, Marina and little Arlo

Now Hiring: Community Food Access Coordinator
Expanding Food Access Initiatives in the Northeast Kingdom

The Center for an Agricultural Economy (CAE) is seeking a team member to manage and expand our food access initiatives. This person will work with staff and community partners to enhance food security and food sovereignty in the Hardwick area and Northeast Kingdom. With the goal of strengthening community resilience, CAE is committed to addressing the persistent inequities in our food system, including the emergency created by the pandemic. CAE is in a unique position to continue advancing local food access and food sovereignty efforts through our grassroots community approach, our partnerships, and our substantial organizational, human, land, and facility resources. We are seeking a self-directed yet highly collaborative candidate to help us create a vision for how to best deploy these resources to address the emergent needs in our community.

A working definition of food sovereignty for CAE is everyone’s right to healthy, affordable, and culturally appropriate food. This includes the ability to grow one’s own food and define one’s own food systems.

This position is grant funded for one year with optimism that the role could become permanent after that.

The On-Water Teen Trip Leaders (2 open positions) will lead two teen expedition programs at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum during Summer 2021; Champlain Discovery and Expedition Champlain.

Champlain Discovery is a unique and challenging expedition for up to 10 teens to kayak the length of Lake Champlain from Whitehall, NY to Burlington, VT. Trip Leaders will work from July 10-26 (the expedition runs from July 11-25).

Expedition Champlain is a rowing expedition for up to 12 teens that departs from the Museum in Vergennes and rows north in two 32’ pilot gigs. These 6-oared boats are capable and sea worthy, but they are not common and we will provide training in handling them to the right candidate. Expedition Champlain runs from July 31st to August 9th.

Because of their small size they are flexible outside of the dates listed above. For a candidate who is looking for a full summer’s worth of work they may have some day programs such as the Kayak Building Camp that will run from June 25th to July 9th. There will also be outfitting and preparation work for the expeditions on an hourly basis. In addition, they run a working wooden boat shop on the grounds of the Museum and there may be work according to the needs of the Champlain Longboats program.

Pay will be based on experience, up to $150/day on trail, and will be hourly when in base camp. Housing and food will be included while the programs are on the trail.
