MCC is hosting the second annual Disability Pride Event of McHenry County on Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This celebration highlights the beauty, diversity, and lived experiences of people with disabilities. Following a successful inaugural event last year on the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the MCC Occupational Therapy Assistant program worked diligently to bring this year's celebration directly to our campus.

Organizers are seeking participants to get involved in one of three ways.
• First, performers from the disability community are invited to take the stage. Past participants have included musicians, singers, and comedians.
• Second, local disabled entrepreneurs, artists, and small business owners are invited to participate as vendors, sharing and selling their crafts, jewelry, artwork, or services.
• Third, local nonprofit organizations that serve the disability community are welcome to reserve a table to market their services and connect with area residents.

Through our wonderful partnership with Main Stay Therapeutic Farm, Inc., our Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) students get incredible, hands-on experience learning how adaptive, farm-based activities and equine-assisted therapies can help individuals build independence and strength.

Explore the universe from the comfort of the MCC Planetarium. We have four public events scheduled for June and July, featuring three incredible shows:

• National Parks Adventure – Immerse yourself in the ultimate off-trail safari through America's legendary outdoor landscapes.

• The Wonders of Webb – Take a journey deeper into space to see the James Webb Space Telescope's cosmic discoveries.

• Moonbase: The Next Step – Discover the science, technology, and ingenuity needed to establish a permanent lunar colony and prepare for space exploration's future.

All shows feature a live night-sky segment and a feature film in the dome theater. Each show seats 45, reservations required. Tickets are $12.51 for general admission and $7.18 for students, seniors, and children (ages 2-11).

The new outdoor gathering space features a moon gate and triptych wall installation designed by MCC graphic design students and built by MCC welding students.
