Special recognition to Sarah Bloom who was selected by a panel of campus faculty and staff to give the graduate student commencement address this Spring. She graduated Friday with her master's degree from the Psychology - Clinical M.A. program in the College of Education and Allied Professions. She encouraged her fellow graduates to look for ways to practice experimentation, acceptance, and balance.

"Some of us studied numbers, some stories, systems or people, but all of us were working towards something meaningful. No matter what program we came from, this moment reflects more than individual effort, it reflects the communities that stood beside us."

Thank you for your address Sarah! If you would like to hear the full speech, it begins around the 45 minute mark of the livestream recording.

Congratulations, graduates!!!

In an impressive undertaking, and thanks to multiple sources of support, Dr. Meghan Gangel and students from the HEAAL lab traveled to present at the biannual conference of the society for research on adolescence (SRA), in Toronto, Canada. Lots of professional connections were made, and the hard work was rewarded with unforgettable experiences and ideas for future studies. Well done!

Will you be a continuing graduate student during the 26-27 academic year? If so, consider this an invitation from Paws to join us on Zoom next week at Noon on Monday, April 6 to learn more about paid student leadership positions within the graduate school! Roles include graduate ambassadors and the Graduate Student Association (GSA) executive board. Graduate school staff will give an overview of available roles and then there will be breakout rooms with our current student leaders to answer any of your questions.*

RSVP here to receive the access link: https://gradadmissions.wcu.edu/register/?id=d32fe39a-a421-4999-af72-02b59b6c1e98

*You are not required to attend this session in order to apply. Both residential (Cullowhee and Asheville) and distance students taking at least 5 credit hours in both the Fall and Spring are eligible for either organization (educational stipend amounts vary by role). Applications are currently open for GSA and the app for graduate ambassadors will open at the beginning of summer term, so keep an eye on your Catamount email for those details!
