Kappa Alpha Order has 122 Active Chapters and 103 Alumni Chapters. The Order boasts more than 150,000 initiated members. The Kappa Alpha Order motto is "Dieu et les Dames" (For God and the Ladies), providing guidance to preserve chivalry and gentlemanly conduct. The Kappa Alpha Order began December 21st 1865 at what is now Washington & Lee University (then Washington College) by William Archibald Walsh, James Ward Wood and Brothers Stanhope McClelland Scott and William Nelson Scott. The Orders national philanthropy is the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), to which we have contributed $2.5 million to in our 30 year history with the association. The Delta Alpha Chapter of Western Carolina University was founded October 2nd 1964 and is the oldest chartered fraternity at Western Carolina. For the Spring 2022 semester the brothers had a 2.8 average GPA. For the Fall 2022 semester the brothers had a 2.81 average GPA. The 6 Pillars of Kappa Alpha Order are as followed. Reverence, Knowledge, Gentility, Leadership, and Excellence. These are the values we look for in young men, as an Order we do not mold our members into these values. We accept those already instilled with them and allow them to become the best versions of themselves.
