University Players is excited to the U.P. LOGO CONTEST!

U.P. needs a logo, and we need your help to design it! If you have any ideas, you can draw, paint, or graphically design it. Whatever you think will help best portray your idea.

Physical submissions can be turned into Cory Phelps in the S&S office. Digital submissions can be sent to Sarina Carolyn Montgomery at [email protected]. We will accept submissions until 5:00 pm on March 31, 2016. The results will be announced shortly afterwards.

The winner of the Logo Contest will receive special thanks at all of U.P.'s shows and events, a gift card for U.P. concessions, and a t-shirt with the logo on it!

Have fun!

Exciting news! University Players will be holding auditions for the touring children's show, CHIVALRY ME TIMBERS!, next Monday, February 22 at 6:00. For the love of all that is good and holy, you do NOT need to bring a monologue. Sides will be provided and we will do cold reads.

Rehearsals will be at the end of March and the beginning of April. Performances will be during the last week of April. You will be contacted about the rehearsal schedule if you are cast.

A character breakdown has been attached to this post. Some roles may be double cast or gender bent.

Feel free to contact a U.P. Officer with any questions you may have.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

Rudolph Q. Pittlekow - The hero of our story, a fierce, if incompetent pirate captain.

Darkbeard - The fiercest pirate to ever sail the seas, nemesis to our hero. Characterized by his long luxuriant pirate hair. Tips well.

Bartleby the Scribbler - Darkbeard's number two. An odd fellow, constantly writing down everything that Darkbeard says.

Lizelle the Unpleasant - A member of Darkbeard's crew. Likes to beat people up, knit. Has a poor memory.

Old Man - Ostensibly our narrator. Old. Curmudgeony. Dislikes children, Canadians. Has two hooks for hands and wears an eye patch that he moves back and forth between his eyes.

Henrietta Stinkbottom - Damsel in distress. Young, beautiful, in need of saving. Has a soft spot for pirates.

Rusty Spittoon - The first mate. Sleeps with a night light on.

Jude the Obvious - The second mate. A bit confused about things.

Lucky Chance - The third mate, having recently been demoted from second mate after making comments unbecoming of a pirate, such as "I could do with a spot of tea" and "You know, I do think a doily would really spruce up the ship."

Rowena the Mildly Irritated - Crew member sailing under Rudolph's command.

University Players is excited to announce a touring children's show:

CHIVALRY ME TIMBERS! THE TERRIFYING TALE OF THE MOST POLITE PIRATES TO EVER SAIL THE SEVEN SEAS!
By Andy Pederson

Rudolph Q. Pittlekow, a fiercely polite pirate captain, must face Darkbeard, the fiercest pirate to ever sail the seas, in order to win the love of Henrietta Stinkbottom. Can Rudolph whip his crew into shape? Who will Henrietta choose? Will Darkbeard get away with his evil plans? Find out in this adventure full of laughs, fun, and manners!

This show will go on tour NEXT SEMESTER. However, U.P. is currently looking for a director. It's a great opportunity to get some experience! Please note that U.P. policy states only those who have taken Directing I can direct U.P. shows. Since it's taking place next semester, those who are currently taking Directing I may apply as well as those who have already taken it.

We will be holding interviews next Friday, October 30th, from 11:00 - 3:00. U.P.'s faculty supervisor, Brenda Lilly, will be conducting the interviews. If you are interested, a sign up sheet will be posted in the S&S office shortly. If you have a directing resume, you may bring it, but it is NOT required.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of the U.P. Officers.
