As the men and women of North Georgia, the Honor Code should apply to all areas of our lives. Keep in mind that this is a public page, accessible by anyone, th
at is, however vague, a representation of our school. DO NOT post anything that would violate any of the standards I hope you would want to uphold. That being said, I know that the frequenters of 4chan, 9gag and imgur has been reported to troll on university meme pages. Please let me know if any inappropriate images are posted and I will take them down. Thanks! To the NGCSU Meme community;
The internet is apparently much more serious business than we thought. The mods have noticed a growing and alarming trend. It would seem that some people (mostly first semester freshman) are discontent with the way the page is being moderated. So, some explanation. There's reasons that we are removing posts. We don't always arbitrarily remove them because we personally don't find them funny. That being said, if something is just blatantly bad, we'll take it down to save the rest of the community from bearing the burden of viewing it. This has ruffled some feathers. Some people, in their discontent, have resorted to spamming, creating alternate accounts after being banned, and making personal attacks on the moderators via meme's or otherwise. This won't be tolerated, period. Posts are removed based on these few things:
Is the meme used done correctly? - Why is this an issue? We don't want to stifle people's creativity, but there's a reason for this. We want to see people's creativity flow in the context of what they are doing, thereby increasing the awesomeness of their post. Is it tasteful? - Bad language, personal attacks, ect. are not cool. Period. That's to promote longevity of the page. If NGCSU grows tired of this page, they could have it shut down if they wanted, because it directly relates to their institution. They don't want potential new students to see a bunch of angry people posting about each other, the school, various organizations, ect. Is it creative/decent? - We understand that the collective mind of 5 people aren't the end all be all of humor. We want people to enjoy making these memes, because it promotes good feelings in people about their fellow students. It lets people share common ideals or humor about their days at this school, and lets be honest, life's just hilarious. But, things that are exclusive inside jokes between a few people and/or are poorly done don't need to be up here, because no one wants to flip through 30 bad ones to reach one good one. I hope this alleviates some peoples issues. If your post got deleted, don't get in a huff about it. Run it past this filter, think about it, and if it's really bothering you, send an email to: [email protected] and we'll try to take the time to tell you why it didn't work out. Thanks for reading,
Much love, #4
