This spring, we set out to celebrate the MCCB faculty members who make a bigger difference than they will ever know. We did not expect what happened next.

Today we want to introduce you to Dr. Larry Dennis — retired Professor, former Dean, and for a generation of North Georgia College business students, the figure at the heart of it all.

Kathy Tillman, Class of 1982 and MCCB Advisory Board member, tells this story:

"Back in the day when the heart of the school of business was the bottom floor of Dunlap Hall, we students gathered between classes at the staircase well — sitting cross-legged covering all available floor space. The prominent figure in that hallway was the very tall and distinguished Dr. Larry Dennis, who would peer down at us through those glasses on the tip of his nose in the most grandfatherly fashion, keeping in tune to the pulse of his students. His foremost desire for each of us was to help us realize our goals and achieve our chosen career path. Always at the ready to help and support — Dr. Dennis exemplified the perfect combination of professor, advisor, and friend."

Fellow alum Allen Earls, Class of 1986, experienced that impact firsthand. Dr. Dennis was his mentor and Accounting Professor — and Head of the Business Department.

"He introduced me to the Big 4 Accounting Firms, and as a result, there was a recruiting battle for me to work for them. EY won the battle, and it launched my professional career. I have had and continue to have tremendous success as a professional, and it would not have been possible without his mentorship. I will be forever grateful."

Kathy's tribute goes beyond words. She made a $5,000 challenge gift to our Faculty Excellence Fund in Dr. Dennis's honor — and inspired a second MCCB alum to step up with another $5,000 challenge. We are thrilled to share that our community rose to meet BOTH challenges — creating a total campaign impact of $20,000 for faculty professional development.

And we are not stopping. The campaign runs through May 31, and every gift from here forward supports the faculty who are shaping careers right now.

PSA: your favorite MCCB professor deserves a shoutout! 📢

We are highlighting the faculty whose mentorship and support have shaped the MCCB student experience. If a professor influenced your path, we encourage you to honor them.

Today is the final day to contribute to the MCCB Faculty Excellence Fund. All gifts made in honor of a faculty member will be matched 1:1 and up to $5,000.

⏰ 24 HOURS LEFT — and we are SO close.

We have raised $3,300 toward our $5,000 goal — which means we only need $1,700 more to fully unlock a $5,000 challenge gift from one of our own MCCB alums. Every dollar you give TODAY (thru tomorrow at midnight) is matched 1:1.

This month, MCCB alumni have been flooding our inbox with stories about the faculty members who changed their lives — the professors who pushed them, believed in them, and sent them in directions they never saw coming. And now you can let them know how much they meant to you.

You can make a gift to this campaign for Faculty Excellence in honor of a MCCB faculty member(s) who made a difference in your life. Big or small, every gift counts — and every gift doubles. But only through May 1. 🎓

Your $50 becomes $100.
Your $100 becomes $200.

We are THIS close. Help us finish strong. 💙💛

Tag a faculty member who deserves a shoutout in the comments — and then go make your gift! ⬇️

The Digital Marketing Mentor Celebration marked an important milestone for MCCB students who participated in the mentorship program. The program consisted of 20 mentor–mentee pairs, creating space for students to gain honest industry insight, strengthen their professional presence, and explore future career possibilities in digital marketing. Working alongside industry professionals, students gained a clearer picture of the digital marketing landscape while developing the confidence needed to take their next big steps.

A special thank you to Professor of Marketing Caroline Muñoz for her time and leadership in bringing this wonderful program together, and to the mentors whose support made a lasting impact on our students!

Filling out the same job applications over and over gets old.

To solve this problem, Aliou Aboubakar Mouhamed created and showcased his AI-powered tool, Zapp, at the inaugural University System of Georgia (USG) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition on April 6-7 at Kennesaw State University’s Marietta Campus. While the MCCB student didn’t advance to the final six, he gained valuable feedback from judges and saw UNG’s supportive ecosystem in action.
