A live burn training at Gaston College is a hands on firefighting exercise where students enter a controlled structure fire to practice real world skills. Under the supervision of certified instructors, trainees learn fire behavior, hose handling, search and rescue techniques, ventilation, and safety procedures in a realistic but carefully managed environment. It’s one of the most intense and valuable components of the Fire Protection Technology program, giving future firefighters the confidence and experience they need before responding to actual emergencies.
