We are so proud of and honored to announce that Lindsey Coy, Bridget Ferris, and Lydia Barbour (not pictured) were honored today at the Misericordia Service Awards Ceremony. In addition to being members of Pi Theta Epsilon, these ladies work tirelessly to make our campus community a better place. They are shining examples of leadership, service, mercy, justice, and hospitality and we are so incredibly grateful to know them. These awards are small reflections of the hard work that they put in daily. We excited to see what else they do during their time on campus, but even more eager to see what mark they make on the world as future occupational therapists! Congratulations Lindsey, Bridget, and Lydia! 💙💛

Day #2 (and the final day for our PTE executive members) of AOTA Inspire 2024 is complete! The morning started off rainy, so Caity and Morgan got to experience the joys of Orlando traffic on the shuttle. After a slow start to the day, they were happy to see one (of three) of Dr. McLaughlin’s posters, which focused on the effect of burnout on the brain. They then attended three short courses. The first focused on how the anti-fat bias that perpetuates our society runs so much deeper than we had previously imagined. The second related to how OT can be involved in sexual relationships and intimacy. And the final session focused on emergency response and disaster preparedness for older adults. Caity and Morgan were happy to see that this short course was taught by Tracy Nornhold, who is a graduate of (and occasional guest lecturer for) Misericordia! Additionally, they attended the 2024 Presidental Address, which related to collective effervescence and how OTs can thrive in all areas of practice. At the second poster session of the day, Caity and Morgan were happy to see Dr. McLaughlin (again!) and Dr. Weis presenting their research. The day ended with a quick photo of all of the ribbons that the two collected! Caity and Morgan are excited to share all of the information that they learned, along with their own personal experiences as first time conference attendees, with the current PTE members on Tuesday!

Day #1 of AOTA 2024 is officially complete! Caity and Morgan started off the day by attending a short course on pediatric pelvic floor health. Then, they headed over to check out some posters presented by the Misericordia OT students and faculty! After that, everyone reconvened to listen to the Presidental Address and the Keynote Speaker. Then, they were off to lunch and were able to explore the Expo Halls. Caity even won some NBCOT study materials after a long wait to spin the prize wheel. For their last stop of the day, they attended the PTE Inter-Chapter Collaboration Session and the Annual Business Meeting, where they met up with other chapters and even PTE President Jaimee Hegge! Please make sure to stop by tomorrow for their second day of conference! 😃

Caity and Morgan, our President and Vice President, will be posting some of their favorite experiences from conference, so stay tuned! And we are even prouder to say that we raised $2,000 to support St. Catherine’s Challenge this year!!! This makes our lifetime donation total to support independent research $20,000! Thank you everyone for your support!
