Perkins School of Theology will celebrate the installation of Frederick D. Aquino, Jeanne Stevenson-Moessner and Karen Baker-Fletcher in endowed chairs during a special Service of Installation on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. in Perkins Chapel.

The service is part of a two-day celebration Sept. 30–Oct. 1 that will also feature inaugural lectures from Aquino and Baker-Fletcher, recognizing the scholarship, teaching and contributions of all three faculty members to theological education.

New Perkins faculty member Farris Blount III preached at Perkins School of Theology’s Feast of Beginnings chapel service, marking the start of the new academic year.

Blount came to Perkins from Memphis Theological Seminary and began his time here this summer by teaching a course for students who also made the move from Memphis Theological Seminary to Perkins. The course gave him an early opportunity to welcome these new students and begin building relationships across the Perkins community.

Preaching from Isaiah 43:18–19, Blount emphasized that we must “look back to look forward.”
The service also recognized students serving in leadership roles with the Perkins Student Association, including Paula Garrett and Abbey Adcox of the Baptist House of Studies.
We welcome Blount to Perkins and look forward to the year ahead!
