The honors program is an interdisciplinary community of undergraduate students and faculty working together to create an intellectually stimulating and challenging environment for learning. Honors students take a common sequence of core curriculum courses, participate each semester in the Honors Explorations Seminar, and produce a professional quality paper or project as part of the Honors Capston

The honors program also sponsors a variety of extra-curricular programs, such as travel to local and regional historical venues and cultural events, opportunities for presenting original research, and participation in conferences sponsored by the National Collegiate Honors Council and other colleges and universities.

Back from a great Honors trip to DC...where we enjoyed (amongst other things), spring weather at Mount Vernon, cherry blossoms, Smithsonian museums, Eddie Izzard at the Rally for Reason, and dessert at the Bilbo Baggins Restaurant. Pics to follow.

Fall Honors trip ended safely back in Dallas this afternoon after a four and a half hour drive through the Halloween snowstorm. Special thanks to Nick Sulzer, who with Dr. H moved cars on 80W after a semi, a car, (and ready for this) the tow truck that came to remove the semi, blocked the highway.

Student tips for what to do in NYC during the Honors trip: Browse FAO Schwarz, shop at Whole Foods in Columbus Circle, take a stroll in Central Park, sample chocolate at the Lindt store, visit St. Patrick's Cathedral, eat at Jeckyll and Hyde in Greenwich Village, and do NOT go canoeing on the Bronx River.
