MVC Theatre Department MVC Theatre offers a unique educational experience to students through many venues and opportunities that will lead to a life-long love for the theatre.

MVC Theatre provides students the opportunity to acquire acting and technical skills that can be transferred to the sta

ge, to a four-year institution, or to life. The curriculum includes Acting I, II,and III, Musical Theatre I & II, Voice for the Theatre, Theatre Practicum, Makeup, Theatre Appreciation and Film Appreciation. Performance opportunities include a main stage show each semester, The Actor’s Showcase in December and May, and The Rod Wilson 24-Hour Ten Minute Play Festival. Due to its small size, the department offers a nurturing environment that gives students close access to faculty, guest artists, and staff in classroom, rehearsal, research, workshop, and performance experiences. Through a well-rounded curriculum, students have the opportunity to develop skills in the ever-changing arena of the performing arts. Calling all VOLUNTEER ACTORS for free food, fantastic camaraderie and a fulfilling twenty-four hours of bringing new plays, by new playwrights to a new audience! The ROD WILSON 24-HOUR TEN MINUTE PLAY FESTIVAL at Dallas College's Mountain View Campus is looking (specifically!) for three men and two women to round out a company of 30 + local actors, DFW directors and playwrights from all over. Dates are Friday, May 29-6-11 pm and Saturday, May 30-9am-9 pm. Eight ten-minute plays will be performed at 7 pm in the Performance Hall at MVC with an audience talk-back immediately following...email [email protected] ASAP to "throw your hat into the ring!"

CALLING ALL SHAKESPEARE-ers! Dallas College's Shakespeare at the Mountain View Fountain is holding auditions for A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, Saturday, April 11 from 1-5 pm and Monday from 4-8 pm in Room W-37 (west side of campus, in the basement!). Director Laurence Wensel Jr. is looking for a cast of ALL AGES (fluent in Spanish is a plus!) to perform OUTDOORS, June 23-27 with M-F rehearsals beginning on May 26. "Lord, what fools these mortals be" as all dedicated DFW thespians are invited to AUDITION for Shakespeare at the Mountain View Fountain's June production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM.. in the TEXAS HEAT!
This true community production directed by Laurence Wensel, Jr. on Dallas College's Mountain View campus seeks actors of all ages and experiences (fluent in Spanish is a plus!) to commit to a month of evening rehearsals (beginning May 26, M-F, no weekends) for a June 23-27 run under the stars at the beautiful Garden of Learning Fountain on the MVC Campus Quad.
Auditions are Saturday, April 11 from 1-5 pm and Monday, April 13 from 4-8 pm in Room W-37(basement of the West Building) Cold readings from the script or bring your best "classic monologue." Questions? Email [email protected]
