🌟 Summer Intern Spotlight 🌟

This summer, Misericordia University student Alyssa Evans ’28 is gaining valuable professional experience through her marketing internship with the Back Mountain Chamber. As an Entrepreneurship major, Alyssa is learning firsthand how community organizations support local businesses and connect with residents across the region.

Through her internship, Alyssa has the opportunity to work on marketing initiatives while also observing local entrepreneurs doing what they do best — providing quality products and services that strengthen our community.

In addition to balancing academics and her internship, Alyssa is actively involved on campus as a Peer Advocate and member of FBLA and the For the Kids Committee at Misericordia University.

We are proud to recognize Alyssa as our first Summer Intern Spotlight feature and celebrate the meaningful opportunities our students pursue both on and off campus. 👏

Last month, Misericordia University was proud to host the 101st Pennsylvania Academy of Science Conference.

Since 1924, the Pennsylvania Academy of Science has promoted science, technology, education, and collaboration throughout Pennsylvania. The conference brought together researchers, educators, students, and professionals from across the state to share ideas, present research, and celebrate scientific achievement.

We were honored to be part of this longstanding tradition and grateful to everyone who helped make the event a success.

Several Misericordia University social work students and faculty participated in the annual Pinwheel Planting Event led by the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center in collaboration with the Dallas Rotary and local law enforcement agencies.

The event raises awareness about the impact of child abuse in Luzerne County. Pinwheels were planted to represent the 391 children affected, honoring each child’s story and emphasizing the importance of advocacy, prevention, and community support.

Misericordia students and social work instructor Joanie Salla also planted pinwheels on campus in solidarity with the mission and in support of children and families throughout our region. 💙

Congratulations to our nursing students on this incredible milestone! 🩺👏

Our Nursing White Coat Ceremony was a wonderful celebration of hard work, perseverance, and the beginning of the next chapter in each student’s nursing journey. It was inspiring to gather with family, friends, faculty, and supporters to recognize these future healthcare professionals.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success, and congratulations again to all who participated. Your future in nursing is bright!

We were honored to celebrate a meaningful moment in our Misericordia University community 💙

16 members of our MU family were commissioned as Mercy Associates during a special ceremony in Blessed Sacrament Chapel at Mercy Center.

Together, we recognized their commitment to the Mercy Mission and the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy. We are proud of the compassion, service, and dedication they bring to our community each day.

This past Friday, our staff enjoyed a wonderful evening together at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders game! ⚾💙

It was a great opportunity to relax, connect, and spend time together outside of the office while cheering on the RailRiders. From ballpark food and beautiful weather to lots of laughs throughout the night, it was a memorable experience for everyone who attended.

The biggest moment of the evening came before the game even started when Archie proudly took the field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch! 🐾👏 He definitely brought the energy and represented Misericordia spirit in the best way possible.

We’re grateful for opportunities like these that bring our community together and create lasting memories. Thank you to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for hosting us for such a fun night at the park!
