Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.
“Su***de prevention matters deeply. We need to recognize warning signs, ask difficult questions, and connect people with help. But as someone who has lost a sister to su***de, I have also learned that we need to talk about prevention with humility and care. We can advocate passionately for prevention while also extending compassion to those who carry the grief of su***de loss.”
Dr. Greta Davis, Chair, SMU Department of Counseling
At SMU, we prepare future counselors to enter into some of life’s most difficult moments with knowledge, skill, courage, and compassion. Today, we remember those who have died by su***de, stand with those who carry the grief of su***de loss, and recommit ourselves to helping people who are struggling know they do not have to struggle alone.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988.
