Congratulations, Sara! Yay!
We are pleased to announce ‘in knots: poetry in word and thread,’ an exhibition featuring new works by poet and embroidery artist Sara Triana () will open Friday, December 2- Sunday, January 8.
Mark your calendars for the Opening Reception + Artist Conversation featuring Sara Triana + Lanecia Rouse Tinsley on Friday, Dec. 2 (6-8pm).
Some words about the show from Sara, “Words have always helped me untangle my day-to-day alongside larger questions and world events. When writing is inaccessible, I lean into embroidery. My work can be a knot of images and emotions. I hope that this collection will complicate ideas of parenthood which is romanticized in this season and oversimplified and undervalued in others….”
Sara Triana’s work explores themes of doubt/hope, parenthood, the climate crisis, embodiment, and the natural world. She is the author of two children’s books, Love Love Bakery and Every Day is Making Day, and a poetry chapbook, Poppy Seeds, which has also been released as a spoken word album on Spotify. Her first full collection of poems, Spread Thick, was released by Finishing Line Press in September 2022. Her work has been published online and in print. Sara, her partner Mitch, and their three children are an unschooling family who spent half of 2022 traveling through 34 states. Sara’s books and links to other work can be found at saratrianamitchell.com.
Sara was a member of the 2019 Artists’ Collective.
