Madison Bates '20 arrived at Centre knowing she loved physics. When Associate Professor Bruce Rodenborn handed her access to a 3-D printer, she discovered a passion for engineering she never expected.

In the six years since graduation, that discovery has grown into a doctoral degree and a startup, R.A.M. Devices. The company and technology are helping doctors more accurately evaluate recovery in stroke patients and those with traumatic brain injuries.

Meet Centre's newest Fulbright winner, Kade Schooling ’26. As a double major in Chinese and Behavioral Neuroscience, he spent his time at Centre combining two fields that, at first glance, have little in common. He found that the combination opened doors neither could have opened on their own.

The combination earned him a Fulbright U.S. Student Program Study/Research Master's Degree Program Award. He will pursue graduate study and research at Taipei Medical University's Graduate Institute of Mind, Brain and Consciousness in Taiwan, where he'll study the science of sleep and consciousness.

Congratulations, Kade! Read more about his story in the comments.

Sophia Koppensteiner '26 knows what it's like to constantly move around.

From growing up in Austria and moving to the U.S. to being involved in multiple facets of Student Life at Centre, she's now preparing for her next adventure β€” traveling back to Europe for a master's degree program in the Netherlands with the help of a Rotary Global Grant Scholarship.

She plans to build on what she's learned at Centre, having recently graduated with a degree in International Studies and Politics at Leiden University. Her advanced study in international politics will prepare her for a future where she hopes to positively impact local and global communities.

Getzamary Solano, class of 2028, recently became Miss Centre at the annual Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival 🌸

The 95-year-old tradition celebrates college-educated women and the history of Eastern Kentucky. Getza joined women representing other institutions across the Commonwealth for the KMLF Queen pageant which included the traditional, elegant curtsy in Laurel Cove, a natural amphitheater in Pine Mountain State Resort Park.

Getza was joined by Sumit Kumar Sah, class of 2028, who was her es**rt during the festivities. Thank you Getza and Sumit for positively representing Centre at this event and every day! πŸ‘

Psychology students gained hands-on experience presenting at the Midwestern Psychological Association in Chicago with their faculty mentors.

14 students presented their research and gave a symposium talk for professors, researchers and students from across the region.

Their poster topics included romantic relationships, human and animal behavior, and the impact of mind-altering substances. The symposium presentation discussed Centre's Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CURE) and peer mentorship program led by students in psychology courses.

Way to go Centre researchers! πŸ§ πŸ™Œ

Community is at the heart of the Centre experience.
Along with celebrating their graduation at Commencement, the Class of 2026 also celebrated their achievements in scholarship, affinity and identity groups. These smaller ceremonies offered graduates to reflect on shared experiences and accomplishments before celebrating with their entire class and walking across the Commencement stage. πŸ’›
