The University of South Alabama's research was partially funded by the Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration Program in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Office of Conservation Investment through multiple grant awards administered by Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Alabama Marine Resources Division, along with contributions from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and Alabama saltwater anglers through their purchase of the saltwater fishing license reef fish endorsement.

🎣🐟 Have you recaptured a yellow tagged Redfish or Speckled Trout? 🐟🎣

They are worth a reward up to $250 value through the rest of the year!!

Many are double tagged with a yellow and an orange CCA Alabama tag! Record the total length of the fish, clip off the yellow tag and mail it to us at DISL, and report your recapture at tags.usouthal.edu. You can leave the orange tag in the fish if you choose to release it! Then, we can be sure to contact you if it is recaptured again!

We are so excited to learn about these awesome fish with our anglers help!!

Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to become a Tag Alabama tagger!!

🎣🐟 What an awesome turnout for our first Ladies Tagging Workshop!! Nineteen ladies attended Sarah and Crystal 's workshop, we held a casting clinic, and got everyone out on the water with our inshore guides, Capt Theo and CaptRichard Rutland, to tag some fish and get hands on tagging experience!! Mary Michael got tagging kits to the ladies interested in tagging with CCA Alabama Tag Alabama program!! We had ladies from novice to very experienced and everyone learned a lot and enjoyed a beautiful day fishing in Weeks Bay!! Thanks to Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve for helping us host such a great event!!

We are especially excited about how we can continue to learn new skills and make contacts with other ladies that love fishing as much as we do! We plan to host additional tagging workshops and fishing experiences if we have enough interest!!

We are so lucky to have these awesome saltwater fisheries in South Alabama and we hope to share good fishing practices that promote conservation so we can continue to enjoy this resource!! 🐟🎣
