Our Hubble Cohort have officially completed their last lecture course of the program. They will now advance to their field experience placements in the coming semester. Several Irwin Class members came in to judge their final case competition. Hubble's orientation photo from August 2023 is shown in the last image. We can not wait to see what they accomplish!

Ethical Senarios Conclave:
Our RER students learned about the role that ethics plays in research at conclave this October. Each family was assigned a scenario and had to present the negative implications that it would have on a research study as well as possible solutions.

This week, we welcomed our Irwin cohort into the family! They had a blast at orientation playing the name ball game, jeopardy, and even participated in a scavenger hunt to find the room that their orientation would be conducted in.

We had presentations from both our Galileo and Fossey class about their field experiences, and they had a chance to meet the Hubble class during lunch.

As always, the previous class names the following, so our Irwin class has decided on the name for the next cohort. They decided on Joule! Named after James Prescott Joule who was an English physicist, mathematician, and brewer; credited with establishing the concept of energy in the mid-19th century (the SI unit of energy, the joule (J), is named after him).

We can't wait to see where the Irwin cohorts' curiosity and passion lead them!

Proud is an understatement when talking about recent Razors Edge Research graduate Lorena. Not only did she complete her Bachelors in Neuroscience, but she was the one student in her graduating class to receive the James Farquhar Award.
This award is given to one graduating student to recognize scholarship, leadership, and service excellence during their time here at Nova Southeastern University. RER is so proud of you, Lorena, and we can not wait to see what you accomplish next!

Last week, our Ehrlich Class had their senior sendoff and shared their postgraduate plans with the remaining cohorts. One of our seniors, Esha Manku, was unable to attend the event but has shared that she will be attending dental school at the University of Florida this fall.
Two of our Hubble Class members, Grant and Alessandro, put together a piece of live music and performed it for us.
We are so proud of our 8 seniors and can't wait to see what they can accomplish in their future endeavors!

Congratulations to our Galileo class member, sophomore Chetana Movva for her recent poster presentation at the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas! Her work examined yersinia pestis bacterium and its Type 3 Secretion system. Chetana and her colleagues created a protein model of a hexamer subunit of the bacterium’s needle dependent on divalent cation binding, utilizing three different AI protein modeling software. Chetana worked collaboratively with fellow NSU students Kaya Okszewski and Priyanka Prasanna, and faculty members Drs. Emily Schmitt and Arthur Sikora.

✨ Last weekend, our President’s 64 members, Dhivyan Kurani, Colin Pulickathadam, and Chetana Movva were invited to attend NSU’s 25th Celebration of Excellence, where President Hanbury shared NSU’s achievements from the past year and outlined NSU’s future vision with the community!

During this celebration, students representing the Razor’s Edge programs had the privilege of meeting with members of the Hochberg and Miniaci families, both of whom have been instrumental in supporting the Razor’s Edge scholarship programs from their inception. We sincerely thank them for their continued support of our exceptional students!

Additionally, our scholars shared their NSU experiences and networked with donors, community leaders, and alumni throughout the event. Overall, we had a lot of fun and look forward to attending again next year!
