Thank you for taking an interest in Phi Sigma Sigma,
Theta Xi Chapter at Nova Southeastern University. Our Chapter is made up of diverse, motivated women who come from many different cultural backgrounds. We are an individually unique group of women who became sisters by chance but have become best friends by choice. Founded in November 26, 1913 by Lillian Gordon Alpern, Josephine Ellison Breaksto
ne, Fay Chertkoff, Estelle Melnick Cole, Jeanette Lipka Furst, Ethel Gordon Kraus, Shriley Cohen Laufer, Claire Wunder McArdle, Rose Sher Seidman and Gwen Zaliels Snyder, in Hunter College, Phi Sigma Sigma was the first collegiate nonsectarian sorority that opened its doors to women of all faiths and backgrounds. Our mission to inspire the personal development of each sister and perpetuate the advancement of womanhood, has helped shape a broad spectrum of outstanding women such as Marian Rosen, the youngest woman lawyer to appear before the Supreme Court of the United States, and Nancy Pimental, writer for the TV series “South Park”. These women are examples of how diverse our sisters can be, but also serve as testimony to our vision statement, which is that Phi Sigma Sigma is a dynamic sisterhood of powerful women fostering uncompromising principles, while igniting positive change and embracing individuality. We are excited that you have taken an interest in Phi Sigma Sigma, and encourage you to look through our website to answer any questions you may have. We also invite you to contact us through here or in person, by talking to any of our sisters about what Phi Sigma Sigma means to us, and what it can mean for you!
