CARVING FOR A CAUSE 🎃

Fall Season is just around the corner and so is our annual joint philanthropy: Carving For A Cause! On SATURDAY OCTOBER 26th, will be hosting the philanthropy at 200 Parkway Circle from 2-6pm! All proceeds will go towards YOLO County CASA and the Huntsman Cancer Institute!

Get tickets now to carve and decorate pumpkins to get in spirit for Halloween and the fall season!!

Sigma Chi would like to formally announce our new sweetheart, .ceg , a fourth year student from San Diego, CA.

Lauren is planning to graduate with a double major in Economics and International Relations along with a minor in Human Rights.

On top of this, Lauren is involved in many different organizations on campus. Such as an active member of the UC Davis University Honors Program, completing projects such as the creation of a UC Davis Continuing Education Micro-credential course. In addition to this she currently serves as the Student Director and lead coordinator of a higher education grant at the Article 26 Backpack, an on campus Human Rights organization.

She currently holds or held the following leadership positions in her sorority, :

Former Vice President of Community Relations which put together one of the most anticipated philanthropies of the year, ArrowJam! And currently serves as the Vice President of Operations.

When Ms. Cegelski has some free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, spending time with her horses, and give back to our lovely Davis community.

We are very excited for Lauren to represent our brotherhood and are very honored to have her as our sweetheart. 💙💛

SUMMER INTERNSHIPS!

This summer, many of our brothers have had the opportunity to take on internships all over the country.

From programming to medicine to engineering, the vast academic diversity this house has to offer can be seen above.

SUMMER HIGHLIGHT!

Pictured above is our very own and .gk ; two rising juniors who rushed Sigma Chi in the fall of 2021. During their time here, the two have taken on the following positions: Derby Days Coordinator (Keller) and Alumni Coordinator (Brent). 

Over the span of the last two months, They have traveled to three different continents with the purpose of creating content for  . Discovering Academia is a podcast started by the two last winter which shines a light on the academic achievements/works of professors from all around the world. 

Their summer started in Europe, where Brent spent 6 weeks studying at the London School of Economics. After this, he met up with Keller and the two traveled through England, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Switzerland to record a total of six new episodes. After wrapping up their last interview in Switzerland, they continued on to Singapore which is where they will be living until december.

Through the program, these brothers will be staying at the National University of Singapore , where they will be working on their various majors and learning mandarin.

With the school offering 8 different research initiatives and 18 total colleges, these brothers will have lots of opportunities to continue bringing the world of research to light.

Great work this summer brothers and best of luck to you in your times abroad!

This summer, the Theta Omicron Chapter of Sigma Chi at UC Davis had the pleasure of sending our brothers across the United States to meet with other Sigma Chi members to enhance their leadership skills and sharpen their professionalism. Our brothers were recognized for their achievements in our chapter, cultivated new ideas with brothers nationwide, and even accepted our Chapter’s 13th consecutive Peterson Outstanding Chapter Award! The pictured events and conferences include Horizon Leadership Summit, Huntsman Cancer Institute Retreat of Excellence, and Krach Transformational Leaders Workshop. Great job brothers for taking the initiative to better our chapter and yourselves as men.

SIGMA CHI IS INTERNATIONAL!!

This summer, many of our brothers have taken the opportunity to travel abroad. From internships and community service to engaging in nocturnal activities, our brothers can be found in Greece, Italy, Israel and many other countries.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!

Grant Koziol graduated with a major in Computer Science and Engineering and a minor in History. His post grad plans include working as a software engineer at Workday in the bay area.
Outside of his academics, Grant is a pretty chill fella with a variety of hobbies including sports, watching dominating LMS, winning IM tube polo and golfing with the boys.
When asked about his favorite memory from college, Grant spoke about meeting his good friend .

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!

Kaiona Watanabe is graduating with a major in Psychology and two minors in History and Contemporary Leadership. His post grad plans consist of being a firefighter in San Francisco. During his time at Davis, Kai balanced Greek Life with being a UCDFD Student Firefighter.  

Outside of that, Kai’s hobbies include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and making memories with friends. 

When Kai was asked about the best part of his college experience, he expressed gratitude for getting to meet lifelong friends and contributing to help raise over 60,000 dollars for our derby days philanthropy as a head coach. 

During his time in Sigma Chi, Kai has taken on multiple leadership positions including Magister and Recruitment Chair. 

Thank you for everything you have done for our chapter and we wish you the best of luck for your future endeavors!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!!

Wade Kiesow is graduating with a major in Biochemical Engineering and a minor in Biological Sciences. His plans for the future include moving to the bay area and working in process development for human therapeutic proteins.

Aside from his education, Wade has a wide variety of hobbies including cooking, homebrew, backpacking and going to music festivals.

When asked about his most memorable college experiences, Wade spoke about shaving his head for derby days, breaking 15 in the 5k and Halloween in Davis.

Garret Hilyer is graduating with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering.

After graduation, Garret plans to attend grad school for Machine Learning and AI.
When Garrett was asked about his hobbies and passions, he explained that it's kind of difficult to have hobbies when you excel at everything you do.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!

Sean Bilter will be graduating with a degree in environmental engineering and a minor in Construction and Engineering management. 

When Sean wasn’t busy working hard towards his degree, he was balancing his social life with being a D1 athlete. Sean played on the Davis soccer team for all four years and was a team captain this last year. 

Aside from soccer, Bilter enjoys playing basketball, Golf and exploring the great outdoors.

When asked about some of his favorite memories from his college experience, he spoke about brotherhood camping trips, picnic days and houseboats. Sean’s plans for next year include one more quarter at UC davis.
