We continue to train the next generation of scientists. These graduate students are working to restore vision in patients with retinal disease, fix congenital diseases with gene editing before babies are born, find better treatments for breast cancer and biomarkers for triple negative tumors, understand the impact of gut microbiome health on brain function, improve our immunologic responses to bacterial infections, understand the impact of the jumping gene (L1) in heritable diseases of dogs and people, and stop the transmission of devastating infectious diseases from domestic animals to endangered wildlife. Science is important. Science impacts every facet of our lives and our planet. Science and scientists deserve our support.
