The NSF LSAMP/California Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP) and the Mentorships for Undergraduate Research Participants in the Physical and Mathematical Sciences (MURPPS) programs aim to recruit and retain students by promoting faculty-mentored research and professional development. The LSAMP/CAMP program is funded by the National Science Foundation. The MURPPS Program is funded by the Office of the Dean, College of Letters & Science. These programs give students the opportunity to gain critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills; to engage in faculty-mentored research; to present their research; to travel to conferences; to attend exclusive workshops for professional development; and to network with science professionals and fellow pioneers in STEM. Undergraduate research also help to facilitate academic success, and learn more about opportunities and fellowships for graduate study.
