UC Davis Biological Orchard and Gardens

UC Davis Biological Orchard and Gardens The BOG is a agro-biodiverse collaboration between students, staff, academic specialists and programs and managed by the UC Davis Botanical Conservatory!

Let's GROW!! The BOG at the University of California, Davis has joined the campus-wide effort in transitioning towards a landscaping genre that embraces lawn reduction and plantings more suitable for the teaching, outreach and research mission of the University. The BOG is a place of agro-biodiversity and will have many purposes:

· serve as a teaching garden for multiple university courses


· serve as a demonstration of and test site for plants and trees more suitable to this region’s hot dry summers and cool wet winters, focusing on drought tolerant plants less commonly available in the Sacramento Valley

· the orchard will observe and demonstrate Backyard Orchard Culture management to keep fruit trees in dwarf size for fruit management, high yield, and quality and selected trees will exhibit the Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity, Ark of Taste designation to preserve varieties facing extinction
