We have workshops and auditions for interested students in the Davis/Sacramento area every October. The University of California, Davis’ Hindi Film Dance Team, Lashkara, meaning the spark of light, is an intercollegiate competitive group that strongly values leadership, responsibility, and excellence both academically and on stage. Lashkara was started ten years ago, with the goals of creating las

ting friendships, improving the dance skills of each team member, and maintaining a strong sense of South Asian pride on campus. Our performances incorporate jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and Indian classical dance styles alongside energetic Bollywood choreography and captivating storylines.

This year we will be having virtual tryouts! The tryout consists of two 20 second clips of two different dance styles (kuthu and hip hop). DM us your video before 11:59 on Friday! Don’t worry we are not looking for perfection, it’s the effort that counts! Good luck and i’m sure everyone will do great! :)

As our season comes to an end we would like to go through and thank all of the competitions we were given the opportunity to attend. First up, we had a blast in Madison for Aa Dekhen Zara.
