We are happy to shine the spotlight on GSP alum, Norma Juarez. Feel free to read through her answers, advice, and career goals. GSP is so proud and beyond excited to see where Norma goes from here. We also can’t wait to hear about nursing school; congratulations on that huge achievement! We’re always rooting for you.

We are excited to share that GSP is prominently featured in this year’s UC Davis Give Day. Give Day is an online “event” that coincides with Picnic Day and garners philanthropic support for UC Davis programs.

This year, donors have stepped forward with generous gifts totaling $12,500 and are “challenging” 30 other donors to also step up with their own philanthropic support with a gift of any size!

With early donations from our supporters and alumni, we have already met our 1st challenge and unlocked $2,500.

With just 15 more donation of any size, we can complete our 2nd challenge to unlock a $10,000 donation to support our students with critical and essential needs while they pursue their goals.

Join GSP in supporting Cal Aggie Camp!

Though Cal Aggie Camp is not under the Guardian Scholars Program, we support and collaborate with them when we can. Cal Aggie Camp provide a week-long summer camp experience for children ages 6 - 16 who have been impacted by the foster care system or other challenging circumstances.

Please consider donating to help them reach their goals to raise $13,000 to cover essential costs to provide an unforgettable experience for the children attending.

Our thoughts are with the family, friends, colleagues, and community of Senator John Burton. Many may not realize the tremendous impact he and John Burton Advocates for Youth (JBAY) have had in shaping legislation that transformed the lives of current and former foster youth. His leadership helped expand foster care from age 18 to 21, secure housing support, increase financial aid, establish the foster youth tax credit, and ensure state funding for foster youth programs across community colleges, CSUs, and UCs.

At the heart of these reforms was Senator Burton’s deep commitment and unwavering dedication to young people.

Please help us welcome our new Program Advisor, Briana (Bri) Tili! Her first day is Wednesday, August 27th! For the next couple of weeks, we will be getting her up to speed and ready for the Fall Quarter. Her office will be in the GSP Center - Room 16A.
We are thrilled to have Bri join the Guardian Scholars Program! She will be supporting students with essential & basic needs and navigating campus resources, among other things.
Bri brings valuable experience from her work at the UC Davis CAARE Diagnostic and Treatment Center as a Family Navigator. In this role, she served as an advocate for foster youth, low-income, and homeless families by providing crisis intervention and guiding individuals to essential resources, including mental health services, housing support, and more.
We’re excited for the expertise, passion, and dedication Bri brings as support to our students!

Here is a little blurb from Bri -
Hi! My name is Briana, but please call me Bri—only my parents call me Briana, and that’s usually when I’m in trouble 😅. I’m so excited to join the UC Davis Guardian Scholars Program team as a Program Advisor!
I’m a down-to-earth and empathetic person who loves connecting with others and making the best out of every situation. I’m passionate about music of all kinds, love trying foods from different cultures, and firmly believe laughter is essential to life. You’ll usually catch me in fun, graphic socks (they’re basically my personality in fabric form).
Outside of work, I’m a busy mom to three amazing kids and happily married to my high school sweetheart. They all keep me on my toes and fill my life with joy and chaos in equal measure. I’m also creative at heart—whether it’s painting, watching Bob Ross work his magic, or being inspired by Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen mastery. I’m a big fan of crime shows, and I love being outdoors, especially near water (even though I can’t swim!).
I’m really looking forward to working with everyone—please feel free to stop by, say hi, and maybe even show off your sock game!
