Compaction is a silent thief that steals from your bottom line and seriously impacts the quality of your crop. There are many ways soil can become compacted, but the result is basically the same no matter how it got that way. Too much water, not enough water, large implements, livestock, and irrigators are generally the main culprits when it comes to compaction.

When your soil-air-water mixture is out of balance, soil microbial life becomes anaerobic or all together inactive. This leads to infiltration issues and runoff problems, as well as nutrient and mineral deficiencies. Your soil is the largest tool in your farming toolbox. Farmers are great at what they do. You feed the worlds population and it takes a lot of science to do that. Unfortunately a lot of current agronomic practices do as much harm to the soil as they do good for the current crop. In order to get the results we need each growing cycle, we need to do things that are often counterproductive to enhancing soil health. This is another reason to use our soil amendments to counter the negative effects of things like herbicides, fungicides, annhydrous ammonia, and even tillage. We can help reverse some of the effects these things have on your soil microbiology.

Agronomists and crop advisors should know about soil microbiology and it's effects on your crop. Some do, but some may simply not have the proper training necessary to take this vital part of your operation into consideration. When talking to these folks you will generally get a few different responses:

1.) "Oh sure, we have the same stuff." Great, why haven't you sold it to your customer then?

2.) "It's snake oil, don't buy it because it won't work." This is a seriously flawed, but way to common answer. Biologicals and soil amendments are not a new concept. Our products have three decades of testing to back them up and show that they work better than most people ever thought they would when testing them.

3.) "Well, I'm not familiar with their products, but it looks like they have the testing data to back up what they're saying so maybe you should try some." This is the rarest answer, but it's also the correct one for a true unbiased advisor to make. Thirty-four years of university testing data, as well as local field data proves that you should try this on your own farm; because it works!

How does your plant grow? Plants grow from a combination of things like air, water, sun, and nutrients. In order to get a healthy and dynamic crop, you need to have all of those elements, taking away even one of them will lead to poor results. So how do we get water and nurtrients to the plant? The main answer to that is through a healthy root system. Take care of the roots and the roots will help take care of the rest of the plant.
